9 Tips for Celebrating Patrick's Day at Home

1.       Make delicious Irish treats

Ireland is known for many things such as it’s very friendly people, but another thing Ireland is well known for is its hearty Irish meals. The first one that comes to mind is a traditional Irish stew which is absolutely delicious. Why not get into the spirit and create your own this Patrick’s Day? Dip in some soda bread as an extra treat.

2.    Watch a St Patrick’s Day Parade

St Patrick's Day parades will take place all over the globe! If you can't get to your local parade, why not tune in virtually and see some of the fantastic shows worldwide. Many people like tune in to where it all began in Dublin Ireland, but New York City is also extremely popular.

3.    Watch Irish Movies/ TV

With actors such as Barry Keoghan, Saoirse Ronan and Cillian Murphy taking the acting world by storm, it is no surprise that there is some fantastic movie and television series to come out of Ireland. With popular TV shows like Derry Girls, Father Ted and Kin and Movies such as Sing Street, In Bruges and the Banshees of Inishirin you’ll be spoiled for choice on some Irish movies to watch.  Netflix have got lots on offer!

4.    Get dressed in Green

Drape yourself in an Irish flag or wear a Leprechaun hat, Patrick's Day is a day to wear all things green, white and orange. Bonus points if you paint the tri-colour on your cheeks!

5.    Learn some Irish phrases and words

It is believed that Irish (Gaelic) is 2,500 years old, yet many Irish citizens do not actually speak it!  Why not use the day to learn some new words and phrases? We’ll give you a kick start with Hello which is ‘Dia duit’. Duolingo is a great place to start!

6.    Play Irish music

No better way to get into the spirit than with some traditional Irish music. Dance around the kitchen and enjoy some of the fantastic tunes that Ireland has to offer.

7.    Have a pint of Guinness
